Questions

  • Relational psychodynamic therapy is a type of talk therapy that helps you understand yourself more deeply by paying close attention to what unfolds during, and in between, our sessions. It draws on classic psychoanalytic ideas but puts the relationship itself at the center of the healing. Together, we will look at how early experiences and the ways you learned to connect with caregivers still echo in your life today — showing up in the ways you cope and relate to other people.

What makes this approach unique is that the bond with your therapist becomes an important locus for engagement: the patterns that cause you pain in other relationships tend to show up in this one too, and working through them in therapy can help you shift them everywhere else.

  • Sessions are 55 minutes long.

I generally recommend meeting at least once per week, although I might suggest multiple sessions per week to deepen our work. That would be discussed and decided collaboratively with your treatment goals in mind.

I do not offer a lower frequency than weekly sessions.

  • It depends. Meaningful change takes time, especially when we're working to understand and shift longstanding patterns. In my experience, symptoms often resurface or transform unless thoroughly understood and worked through. For that reason, the work I do is typically longer term.

  • I offer therapy both in person and via Telehealth. My office is at 53 W. Jackson Blvd. Chicago, IL 60604.

My office is located in the historic Monadnock Building in Downtown Chicago. The building is on the corner of Jackson Blvd. and Dearborn St. I am close to all CTA (“L”) lines and a 15 minute walk from Ogilvie and Union Metra stations. There is paid parking nearby.

  • I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. If you have a different insurance plan, I would be considered an out-of-network provider.

These are some questions that may be helpful to ask your insurance company to better understand your coverage:

    1. What is my annual deductible amount and has it been met?

    2. What are my outpatient mental health benefits?

    3. (If you have an out-of-network plan) What are my “out-of-network” mental health benefits?

    4. What is my co-pay or coinsurance amount?

    5. Do you cover Telehealth appointments?

  • My session rate is $180 for individuals and $200 for couples. I offer a few sliding scale slots based on financial need.

Note: Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act requires medical practitioners to provide good faith estimates of services before services are rendered. The fee range provided to you in an email or screening call will be reasonably accurate to what you can expect to pay per session as a patient.
